This is a personal site. I write it, I run it, and it is small enough that I can tell you exactly what happens to anything you send me, without a page of legal furniture.

Reading the site

You can read every page here without giving me anything. I do not run Google Analytics, I have not installed an advertising pixel, and there is no session recording watching your mouse. The only record of your visit is the ordinary server log my web host keeps: which page was requested, when, and from which IP address. I do not read those logs to work out who you are.

The contact form

This is the only place on the site where you hand me anything. It asks for your first and last name, your email address, a subject and a message. That is all it collects, and nothing else is gathered quietly alongside it.

What you send lands in two places: the website’s own database, and my email inbox. I read it myself. Nobody else is on the other end.

Who else is involved

One company. Namecheap runs the server this site and its email sit on, so your message physically rests on their machines on its way to me. There is no mailing list, no CRM, no advertising network and no analytics company in the chain. I do not sell or share what you send me, and there is nobody to sell it to.

Cookies

Only the functional kind, and only if you log in, which for almost everyone means none at all.

AI, since you should be able to ask

I use AI tools in my work, and some of the text on this site was drafted with AI help and then edited by me before publishing. Where any image here was generated rather than photographed, I say so where it appears.

Your message is a different matter. Nothing you send through the contact form goes into an AI service, and no automated system reads it, scores it or replies to it. I do.

How long I keep it

Form messages for two years, so I can find an old thread. Server logs for a rolling few weeks before the host overwrites them. If you would rather I did not keep your message at all, say so in the message and I will delete it once I have replied.

Asking me to hand it over or delete it

Write to privacy@williamferrand.com and ask for a copy of what I hold, a correction, or deletion. You do not have to give a reason. I will do it within thirty days, and usually the same week.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect anything from them.

If any of this changes

The date at the top changes with it. If I ever add analytics, a mailing list, or anything else that puts a third company in the chain, it gets written here before it goes live, not after.
